Getting Through Security Faster with TSA Pre√
We know that going through TSA security screening is one of the most dreaded, time-consuming facets of modern air travel.
But did you know that the TSA, in cooperation with two dozen airlines as well as over 150 airports across the country, has a program in place to make this pill of the security checkpoint a little easier to swallow.
That program is TSA pre√.
Anyone can apply to be a part of the program and once approved, you no longer have to remove your shoes, belt, 3oz liquids, jackets, or take laptops out of their cases, making getting through the checkpoint faster and easier.
Now this is not been a secret program, but most people attribute it to larger airports than Barkley, but it has been availble for at least a year, just not widely publicized, for whatever reason
Here's how the process to get pre-checked works (roughly)
You can fill out an application online and submit it to TSA through their website, you are given an appointment and a list of documents you need to to take to a TSA authorized screening location. There you can get approval once you have the documnentation and for a fee of $85 that covers 5 years of pre√ status. You will be given a KTN (Known Traveler Number) which you can use everytime you book a flight and that number will appear on your tickets and boarding passes to the TSA will know that you are pre-checked.
If you are interested in learning more about the program or if you want to apply you can do so at TSA.gov. Or go to the local Pre√ screening location here in Paducah which is
Paducah KY, 42001
